Mobile Phone Ban In Schools Creates Need For Secure Storage

Enquire.

After six weeks of all-night binges on Fortnite, ‘remusing’ on Musical.ly and chatting on Houseparty, children around the UK will finally leave their bedrooms and return to school this week. No doubt many will feel hard done by, as parents prise smart phones, tablets and wearables from their pale hands to get them into their new uniforms. But compared to their French counterparts British kids have it easy. In most UK schools, students are still able to keep their mobile phone with them – even if the teacher insists it’s put away for the duration of the lesson.

A new bill that comes in this September means that in France, mobile phones will have to be switched off or left at home during the school day (with a small number of exceptions). This comes as education experts raise concerns about the impact smart devices are having on student learning.

France-Presse report that nine out of 10 French teens aged 12 to 17 have a smartphone. So, that’s a lot of expensive devices being left in bags, school lockers or teacher’s drawers. Keep student mobiles safe using Simplicity, our secure storage, keyless locker solution. Lockers open with the students’ building access cards. The internal light will help them find what they need quicker, while the USB charger will encourage students to leave their devices in the locker during the day.
